She graduated from the University of Medical Sciences of Camagüey, Cuba, and has hospital experience in emergency care, intensive care and gastroenterology. In the United States she trained in phlebotomy and as a medical assistant, and spent two years as a medical assistant and phlebotomist at an aesthetics clinic.
